Christmas Lights

Christmas Lights!! I love them! I could stare at them forever. Along our street heading for our little store, the other night, I found that it looked like Christmas Wonder Land all over again. The many trees and little gazebo and train station was still all totally lit up. I wanted to just sit and stare. There is something about that scene, that puts me in a whole different world, it is a very serene, quieting feeling. I could sit and stare at the lights forever. Yes, my Christmas tree is still sitting in my living room, with the lights on right now. I just can't take it down this year for some reason.

As I was searching for something in the store the other day, I came upon this book, that had a poem in it. I couldn't help but quickly buy it. It made me remember something that was read to dad and us kids last year at Christmas time. It is called "My First Christmas In Heaven"

I see the countless Christmas Trees
Around the world below,
With tiny lights, like heaven's stars,
Reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular,
Please wipe away the tear,
I hear the many Christmas songs
That people hold so dear,
But the sound of music can't compare
With the Christmas choir up here,
I have no words to tell you
The joy their voices bring,
For it is beyond description
To hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me,
I see the pain inside your heart,
But I am not so far away,
We really aren't apart.
So be happy for me, dear ones,
You know I hold you dear.
And be glad I'm spending Christmas
With Jesus Christ this year.
I sent you each a special gift
From my heavenly home above.
I sent you each a memory
Of my undying love.
After all, love is a gift more precious
Than pure gold.
It was always most important
In the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other,
As my Father said to do.
For I can't count the blessing or love
He has for each of you,
So have a Merry Christmas and
Wipe away that tear.
Remember, I am spending Christmas with
Jesus Christ this year.

Part Two In Review

Tis part two of the year 2004 in review:
So many memories, each one yet to view.
Has been a full year for me, as you will see.
These carrots are not all for free:
One carrot at a time, each in a straight line.
I can only get to them one at a time.

Six months at Wal-Mart has been spent:
And a "good" six months for me has been lent.
My self as a young girl was trained for the store,
And how I have missed that spot each year, more and more.
As Ed and I prayed to God, to open up a door,
He led me right to the Wal-Mart store.

What's more? He led me thru some other doors.
In July, a trip to "our" College, for a retreat:
Briercrest Bible College, where we did meet.
The year being 1969, what a mighty fine time!
Another door God led me thru, back at that very time.

But this year 2004 : It was two of us that walked thru those doors.
A special time of year: Our anniversary was here!
Twas back to our roots, where I met that guy in cowboy boots.
Looking to find those friends we knew:
But as we looked, confusion grew and grew:
No one looked, as we at that time knew.

We each a photo name tag did wear:
Showing us back when we had hair.
(At least for the guys was very true)
But as for the ladies, some just grew and grew!

Two days at the college and we were on our way,
Headed for Montana, on Independence Day.
Thru the mountains we did go:
Seeing fire works, all aglow!

To be off the road, we were glad:
And to see Tom and Nancy and our Dad.
What was the reason we had come?
To do some work, or have some fun?

A tractor, a truck, and eight willing hands:
Moved bags and box's and pots and pans,
From the house to the trailer in the back yard.
Many trips we made: It wasn't that hard.

Then came the Moose out the front door.
He'd come from Canada - Now he'd travel some more.
Off to Kentucky in Dad's ole van:
With Nancy Red Squirrel: And that Kentucky Bear Man!

The house was empty, the cupboards were bare,
But many fond memories still lingered there.
Dad and Mom, for many years have shared
Their lives have been full, their cupboards "not" bare!
Their home has been filled with friends, and family galore
My! How many fond memories have been accounted for!

It's hard to see a home so bare,
When so many memories have been lived out there.
It continues to be "Dad's" home:
Even tho there are new and precious tennants who "now" own.

The deer and the squirrels, and the humming birds still do play
And of course now, a dog along with Princess Ellie and Nathaniel
Quite a happy and content little house full, new stories to tell!
Sherry and Andy and Dad now to dwell, in the house full of memories:
Where mom once did dwell.

My heart is full of so many memories, we all have shared there:
But wait a minute, we need to remember that Dad does still live there!
Tis patience that will be needed for "us kids" who will share-
Four generations of family for whom we all care.

Speechless! ???

Dis Wascally Wabbit is speechless: words fail
Do I look at the year 2004 in review?
Or the year comin up now in plain view?
Now, I'm really in a stew!

So many things still tug at my heart
My mom's passing, still, a very big part.

The challange of "The College Kitchen":
Just kept me itching and itching-
To get out of dat ole stewpot, "The Kitchen"

When we moved here, it was to be a time to rest:
But really only became another huge test!
I only became more and more stressed.
I had thought I would be able to easily just "fit in",
But instead of feeling like I fit in:
It seemed more, "I had a few bolts missin"
With each new meal to prepare:
Panic would soon set in, And I'd long to get out of dat ole kitchen.

The school year was rode out-
I made it to the end, and wanted to shout it out!
The question now was:
To stay out of that kitchen? or find me another spot?
Ed was quite content to continue his job:
Wascally Wabbit would search far and abroad.

Wal-Mart, appeared, a "gift", from God up above.
I peeked into Wal-Mart. I gave them my name and number
Hopeing they might give me a job for the summer.

Dis wascally Wabbit was now comin home smiling
Saying what a "good" day she had.
What a difference! It made her glad.
She felt like she belonged,
Something she had been longing to feel, for so long.

In the Jewelry dept. many "carrots" I did see
Big ones, small ones, qualities of many different degrees.
Another challange to emerge!
Two departments, all for me!

Cosmetics was my main goal!
At least at the beginning, I was told
But as time wore on, Two departments was my game.
Never knew just where I should stay,
As the C S M's would continue to page all day.

Would the associate in Jewelry please return to Jewelry?
Of course, Cosmetics was now where I stood:
Helping "my" customers was my job, as I had understood.
Off on a dash I would fly back to the Carrots,
Only to hear, "Would the associate in Cosmetics return to Cosmetics?

I returned to Cosmetics, in response to their "plea"
And as I started to speak, a page came across for none other than, "Me"
Does this sound to you pretty "hairey"?
Well to me it was down right scarey!

On my neck, all the keys did hang.
Two departments being "my game"
Many showcases, with "Carrots" galore
Just for me to watch out for!
Colognes also, wanting to be bought,
And at this time of year, my how customers fought!

As I stood with my customer,
All I could do was grin,
And say, "Sorry", I will be back right soon, again.
Never knew just where I was!
About the time I got where I needed to go to:
A page would come across and away again, I flew!

Now, don't you fret and don't you worry-
This Wascally Wabbit is "no longer" in a scurry!
Taking my time to smile and be polite
Regardless of hearing about that upcoming flight.

(end of part 1)
