Family Connection
When it comes to Family History Books, your identity you bring with you into life, is the one which goes with you into the "Family History Books". When you go to your Family Re-unions, you don't go looking for the names acquired in later life. No, you look for the name that is the name you knew so well growing up as kids. As time wears on, and memory starts to sometimes fade, which name stands out to you the fastest on those name tags? The names that were given by parents? Or the names you were given by the spouse? When you haven't seen someone for years, and may not even know the married name, which name is the one you look for??
This Weekend was Thank'sgiving weekend for those of us who live in Canada. At church Sunday morning we were asked to write out those 5 things which we are most thankful for. Whenever I am asked that, the first thing off my heart and lips are "my mom and dad". My Christian Heritage!
Without our mom and dad's love and nurture, every one of us kids wouldn't be what we are today. Beginnings! My how important they are!! And no matter what things happen in our upbringing which may cause "negative" reactions, whatever it may be, We are who we are because of our Mom and Dad, and The Lord Jesus Christ. Our mom and dad who had a heart for God, and chose to make sure their kids were gonna learn about Him and make him a part of their lives. All of us "Cousins" had Godly Parents, Godly GrandParents. And for that I am very thankful.

We need to remember our beginnings. Without our beginnings, we wouldn't be what we are today. My mom may no longer be with us, but I believe she is up there above looking down among us, smiling, and yes, even gigling at silly things we giggle at. Crying with us, when we are heartbroaken, Excited, when we are excited!
There are so many memories that need to go down in these "Family History Journals".

Colleen you are so right in what you say here.I enjoyed your post. Our Thanksgiving will soon be upon us also in which we will be also thinking of what we are so thankful for.Of course we should always be praising the Lord and saying thank-you constantly for his grace given to us lowly, imperfect children of his.I am very thankful for his loving and forgiveness he gives me as often as I fail him.
Yep,the names you immediately look for are the names we knew as kids growing up of family members. We all grew up in Christian homes and eventually chose which way we would choose to go with our individual lives.I am very thankful for Mom and Dad who loved the Lord with all their hearts and wanted to raise their kids in the nurture of the Lord.
